Why most brand content underperforms — and how to fix it

The gap between what a brand wants to say and what its audience actually hears is where most content dies. Here’s our framework for closing that gap.

Why most brand content underperforms — and how to fix it

Most brands don’t have a content problem. They have a translation problem. The founder knows exactly why the product matters — but by the time that idea reaches a 9-second reel, it has turned into a generic line that could belong to anyone.

1. Start from the audience’s tension, not your features

Every strong piece of content we’ve made started with a real tension the audience already feels. For aspirants, it was the cost and loneliness of preparing away from home. For men’s wellness, it was the things men don’t say out loud. Features come second; the tension earns the attention.

2. One idea per piece

If a video tries to say three things, it says nothing. Pick the one idea that matters most, make it land in the first two seconds, and let the rest of the content support it.

3. Build formats, not one-offs

Repeatable formats — a vox pop series, a character-led campaign, a UGC template — let you test, learn and scale. One-off “viral attempts” rarely compound.

4. Measure what the content is actually for

  1. Awareness: reach, views and watch time.
  2. Consideration: saves, shares, profile visits.
  3. Conversion: clicks, leads and sales.

When every piece has a clear job, it becomes obvious what to keep, what to kill, and what to double down on.

Good content isn’t louder. It’s clearer about who it’s for.

If your content isn’t carrying your ambition yet, tell us where it’s stuck — that’s exactly where we come in.
